Choosing the Right Fabric

There are many factors that you need to think about before deciding on the right fabric for your business. First of all we need to determine what business you are in. Are you in a Law office, a high traffic fast food franchise, or a 5-star restaurant? Once we know that then we can get to the next steps.

Durability
  • This may be the key factor in selecting fabrics for a business. If you run a restaurant, then you need fabrics that withstand a good amount of abuse. In an office environment you also need durability, but you will have more choices, because the traffic won't be as high.
  • You want to minimise the number of rips and tears that the seating will endure, this is can be a common occurrence in restaurants. This is the key to minimising ongoing maintenance costs.

Clean up
  • How easy is the fabric to keep clean? In a restaurant it's vital, therefore most go with a vinyl or a leather (imitation or otherwise).  An office hopefully won't need to worry so much about spills - it does happen of course - but it may mean, that a treated fabric will work brilliantly while creating a warm environment.

Stickiness
  • Something to keep in mind with the fabric that you select is fabric that might 'cling' to clothes. This is important when sliding in and out of booths, you don't want clothing to stick or bunch up.
  • No doubt you have a climate controlled environment, but if not, think about all those time you've sat down on a hot vinyl car seat in summer and a freezing vinyl car seat in winter. It's unpleasant and will leave a bad impression. Do you want customers to remember the seat that they got stuck to, or the service that they received?

Complementary
  • Whatever fabric you choose is going to impact the look and feel of your business, so it needs to be right. You can mix and match various fabrics to create an eye catching and inviting environment. There are almost endless options that you can put together, so make the most of it.

Ideally you are looking for a fabric that is impervious to liquids, is stain resistant, easy to clean, durable and looks and feels fantastic. Is that possible? You bet! Call us 0800 698 746 and we will discuss the pros and cons of each choice and then find the right fabric for your business.
