What girl could refuse?

In 2008 Bruce (my husband) alluded to a romantic leisurely drive from Christchurch to Wanaka. Winding our way through rugged mountains, coffee and champagne lunches beside picture perfect lakes with spectacular snowy alpine views, all to celebrate our 29th Wedding anniversary, I just couldn't refuse.

But there was more to it than that: Warbirds over Wanaka.  Adding that into the weekend would be the icing on the anniversary cake. However, what that truly meant was walking the talk…sales and marketing…with over 80,000 people in attendance and the aircraft manufacturers, pilots, engineers, and enthusiasts lined up to hear about our Amazing Leather Repairs.

Yes it turned into a fantastic opportunity to display and talk about Fibrenew.

We made new introductions to upholsters, motor trimmers, business owners, car enthusiasts the breadth of New Zealand. We networked, and built new relationships the entire time, non-stop looking for opportunities and talking about the benefits of Fibrenew’s unique products and repair skills in the aviation industry.  Aircraft enthusiasts for this weekend numbered over 80,000 people.

TBM the manufacturer of the 850 executive turbo prop jet was exhibiting and starting a demonstration circuit of NZ, Bruce pointed out to the pilot that the leather was in definite need of cleaning at the very least and restoration would enhance the look to any purchaser.

Adelaide’s Jaguar XK car club was over for the weekend – with their cars – we did a number of free quotes for them.

It was successful because we knew what was being worked on around the aircraft hangars, and clubs in New Zealand, Australia, and also around the world. In fact we knew:

  • Fibrenew Waikato completed regular work already for Air Pacific in Fiji; Waikato Aero Club; Eagle Air; and Hamilton Aeromotive
  • Fibrenew South Auckland completes work for Flight Interiors.
  • Fibrenew Canterbury completed work for Christchurch Helicopters and the Canterbury Aero Club.
  • Fibrenew Nelson regularly completes work for Air Nelson cleaning and protecting their new leather seats.
  • Fibrenew Montreal completes pre-delivery inspections of Bombardier’s new super jets and told me that each jet cost $20-50 million dollars.  He also works for Global Express, Challengers and Innotech Aviation
  • We knew that Fibrenew cleaners and protection creams are being used on the Australian’s Jetstar fleet.

People were impressed with our samples of
  • Leather ½ cleaned ½ left dirty.
  • Leather straight from the tannery half re-dyed and top coated with Fibrenew products, and carried out the acetone test.  Dyes from the tannery wipe off with an acetone cloth Fibrenew’s didn’t.
  • Hands on half restored leather cushion and car seat which they could see and touch for themselves.

We were pretty amazed at the response – 500 brochures given out with names and phone numbers of Fibrenewers throughout New Zealand and Australia.  To the visiting Canadians and Americans we could only give a brochure to and direct them to the international website. It is always amazing the number of people who don’t know such a service exists and highlighted for all of us the importance of continually getting Fibrenew’s name out there.

An immediate result for Bruce: he completed a repair on return to Fibrenew South Auckland. Conrad from Fibrenew Otago reported an increased awareness and interest in Fibrenew work and says that it was a very good exercise to undertake. Claire and Clive from Fibrenew Christchurch completed one car restoration job directly from a contact made at Warbird.

So you may be wondering, and its okay to wonder, what was the wedding anniversary like? It was great staying in the luxury accommodation; we had the hot spa pools to relax our weary bodies in, not to mention the feet.  Best of all, it was especially nice to spend time having a wine over dinner with our southern partners!

If you need upholstery repairs and restoration done. I know the man for the job. Give me a call 0800 698 746
